The Region of Halton is reporting two more deaths, as well as another big jump in new cases.
The deaths appear to be Oakville (46 total) and Halton Hills (29 total) residents. Milton and Burlington both remain at 27 deaths attributed to COVID-19.
Across Halton, there are 128 new cases. That brings the total number to 6707 cases. With 5782 resolved cases and 129 deaths, Halton is now at 796 active cases – 37 more than yesterday.
In Milton, we have 42 new cases. Our total is now 2075 cases. With 1786 resolved cases and 27 deaths, Milton now has 262 active cases – 23 more than yesterday.
Some fantastic news out of Milton as Allendale’s ongoing outbreak has officially been closed. The final numbers for the LTCH were 89 cases: 60 residents, 15 staff members, two unspecified, and 12 non-Halton cases. There were 19 deaths from COVID-19 since the outbreak began on November 13th. All 19 people were residents.
Looking at Milton’s currently ongoing outbreaks:
- The Milton District Hospital has had an ongoing outbreak since December 12th. Since then, there have been 18 reported cases. eight have been residents, three have been staff members, and seven have been ‘non-Halton’ cases. There has been one death at the hospital associated to this specific COVID-19 outbreak. The person was categorized as a resident.
- Martindale Gardens first reported an outbreak on December 14th. Since then, seven cases have been reported. Two were residents at the retirement home, three have been staff members, and two are ‘non-Halton’ cases. There have been two deaths. Both deaths were residents.
- The most recent outbreak in Milton is at Revera Birkdale Place. Since December 16th, there have been 54 cases reported. 39 of the cases have been residents, nine have been staff members, three are unspecified, and three are ‘non-Halton’ cases. There has been one death associated to the outbreak at the retirement home. It was a resident.
Below are the numbers for Ontario, including 3,519 new cases province-wide. A total of 204,145 people have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 in the province.
