The federal Conservative Party now has a nominee for Milton.
Conservative Party members have nominated Nadeem Akbar to carry the banner for the next federal election. The decision was made through an online vote over the weekend.
According to the Party, Akbar has been a corporate IT consultant for over 17 years and has shown a dedication to his community. He’s been a part of mentoring local youth, fundraised for hospitals like Credit Valley and Trillium, and the Party adds that he is a devoted husband and proud father of three.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve the great people of Milton, and to carry on the strong leadership shown by our previous Conservative Member of Parliament, Lisa Raitt,” says Akbar. “Our team is ready to hit the ground running. We will work tirelessly to elect Erin O’Toole as Prime Minister and bring back certainty, clarity, and competence to government.”
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Conservative Party had to adapt in its nomination process, which it says involves an extensive candidate search.
The Chair of the Milton Candidate Nomination Committee, Darryl Demille, thanks the committee and says it was a smooth voting process.
“Despite the ongoing pandemic, the entire team really worked to show that we could have a nomination and a candidate in place for the members of the riding, and we’re pleased to have Nadeem on our team.”
The President of the Milton Conservative Association, Richard Lewis, says that with Akbar in place, they can now get to work.
“Our members in the riding have been looking forward to getting our candidate in place so we can get to work on bringing back ethical, intelligent, and compassionate representation to our federal government.”
With the nomination of Akbar, nearly a quarter of the Conservative Party’s candidates have been nominated for the next election.
