There’s a new bagel place in the Milton Mall.
OKO Bagels opened up this past weekend.
Owner Luc Brunet explains why he opened up a store during the pandemic.
Audio PlayerHe adds that he’s feeling very confident about his store. There are two other locations in Oakville and Hamilton, and they are in the process of opening up a fourth location in Mississauga.
His business partner, Jasmine, shares in the excitement of the opening, saying that she couldn’t even sleep the night before the opening because she was so amped to bring OKO Bagels to Milton.
OKO Bagels sells Montreal-style bagels. Brunet feels that most people are used to what you find at grocery stores, and that tends to be the traditional, New York-style bagels. He explains what you can expect from a Montreal bagel.
Audio PlayerBrunet adds that the bagels are placed into semi-boiling sweet water and then put on pine boards. The trick about Montreal-style bagels, Brunet says, is that they need to be made in a wood fired oven.
OKO Bagels is located in the Milton Mall. Their hours are 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., except on Sundays when they close at 3:00 p.m..
