The Region of Halton is reporting 101 new cases across the region today.
The big spike is due to a “defect in the provincial database that led to approximately 50-60 cases entered by laboratories into the system from November 17 to 24 not being reported to Halton Region Public Health until November 25,” says the Region.
There are also two new deaths being reported in Halton, giving the region 60 deaths total from the virus. One is a Milton resident (7th), the other is a Burlington resident (18th).
The Milton death appears to be related to the Allendale outbreak, the second of this current outbreak. It has not been confirmed if the person was a resident or not. Since the outbreak began on November 13th, 30 cases have been reported. 18 of them have been residents, three are staff members, and nine of them have not been specified as of yet.
Across Halton, the 101 new cases brings the total case count to 3469. With 2802 resolved cases and 60 deaths, Halton is at 607 active cases.
40 of the 101 cases in Halton are coming out of Milton. The town’s total is now 962 cases. With 717 resolved cases and the seven reported deaths, Milton is at 238 active cases.
Milton continues to have the highest active case count among Halton municipalities. Oakville has 203; Burlington has 120; Halton Hills has 46.
