Halton’s Regional Council is holding a special meeting today.
A big focus on the meeting will be climate change and how Halton can do its part to stop it. Milton’s Town Council also fielded delegations at its most recent meeting to help discuss the Climate Change Work Plan. Councillors unanimously voted in favour of the proposed plan.
Also added on to the agenda will be a short presentation on the Trafalgar Secondary Plan. The plan is expected to add more than 26,000 residents and 4,000 jobs to Milton in an area near the Toronto Premium Outlets Mall (between Derry Road and Britannia Road on Trafalgar Road). You can read more on the plan here, as well as the neighbouring Agerton Secondary Plan.
myFM News spoke with Regional Council for Milton’s 1, Colin Best, on what residents should expect coming out of the meeting. He says that, while decisions will be made on anything today, the focus is all about how Halton can grow and expand in an appropriate way.
He says that the Region of Halton views the potential of Trafalgar Road to be comparable to Hurontario Street in Mississauga and Brampton. The Region wants to be able to link GO stations from Oakville to Halton Hills, and Milton being square in the middle.
