Today is one of the worst days of the pandemic to date.
Across Halton, we saw an increase of 59-cases reported in the last 24-hours. That brings the Region to 1520. There have been 1306 recoveries and 27 deaths. That puts Halton at 187 active cases.
In Milton, we have 11 more cases today. That puts us at 372 total cases. 330 people have recovered and four have died from COVID-19. That means Milton has 38 active cases.
The high numbers come with the announcement of Premier Ford and the Ontario Government bringing Ottawa, Peel, and Toronto back to Stage 2. That means the closing of:
- Indoor gyms and fitness centres (i.e., exercise classes and weight and exercise rooms);
- Casinos, bingo halls and other gaming establishments;
- Indoor cinemas;
- Performing arts centres and venues;
- Spectator areas in racing venues;
- Interactive exhibits or exhibits with high risk of personal contact in museums, galleries, zoos, science centres, landmarks, etc.;
- Prohibiting personal care services where face coverings must be removed for the service (e.g. makeup application, beard trimming)
