A section of Milton will permanently close.
Segments of Peru Road and No. 3 Side Road will close to allow for Tremaine Road to be realigned. A new interchange for Highway 401 will also be constructed.
The change was finalized at the most recent Milton Town Council meeting. In the report provided to Council, it reads as such, “the permanent closure of Peru Road from ‘Street A’ to the south limit of No. 3 Side Road and from the north limit of No. 3 Side Road to Highway 401 to facilitate the realignment of a portion of the Sixteen Mile Creek Reach… which is required to accommodate the realignment of Tremaine Road and the construction of a new interchange at Highway 401.”
The motion was passed on Monday, September 21st.
In the background of the report, ‘Street A’ is referred to as a, “temporary two-lane rural roadway built by Halton Region on temporary easements that will be maintained by the Region until such time the Century Grove and Milton Meadows South lands are developed and the municipal services assumed by the Town.” The connection to ‘Street A’ should take roughly three weeks. According to Town Staff, residents in the area will be notified of any work being done, as well as timelines.
In a report from Town Council in 2014, the Century Grove and Milton Meadows South lands are named as nearby lands destined for a subdivision.
