The Halton Police has arrested a 16-year old male involved in a hate crime last month.
On June 23rd, there was a report of graffiti on a sidewalk in the area of Liptay Avenue and Colonel William Parkway in Oakville.
On June 28th, the Halton Police attended Skipton Lane in Oakville for similar graffiti written on the sidewalk in chalk. During this incident, four individuals were seen walking on Skipton Lane and were believed to be involved in the incident.
Through the investigation, the Halton Police has determined that the arrested youth acted independently in the incident and was solely responsible.
The arrested youth’s name was not provided due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The Halton Police says, “extrajudicial measures have been utilized to address the criminal act committed by the youth (specifically the Youth Diversion Program as prescribed under the Criminal Code).”
The incident that occurred on June 23rd is still under investigation.
