You can avoid the long lines at Service Ontario.
People have been reporting that it could take you up-to six hours to go from the back of the line to the front.
Minister of Government and Consumer Services, Lisa Thompson, says you don’t need to rush to get your documents updated right away.
Minister Thompson adds that she believes the Ford government is working to put the public’s safety first.
She also confirmed that the Ontario government will be scrapping the new, blue license plates, and will be returning to the white, ‘Yours to Discover’ plates of old.
Minister Thompson then issued the following statement on behalf of the Ford government:
“To help ensure the safety of employees and customers, we are reminding Ontarians to please limit their ServiceOntario visits to when absolutely necessary.
“The vast majority of services do not require an in-person visit right now as they are either available online or have had their validation period extended. This validation period has been extended for health cards, drivers licences, and licence plate stickers, among others. Additionally, more than 40 of the most common transactions are available online.
“We appreciate Ontarians patience during this time as the situation continues to evolve. Our government is actively involved in recovery plans to open centres when and where possible.”
Instead of waiting out the COVID-19 outbreak to extend your health card, driver’s license, and license plate sticker, you can apply for extensions online for a majority of your documents.
