The Halton Region has updated their numbers for the novel coronavirus.
Milton’s number has increased from 97 yesterday to 98 today. The Halton Region has reported a total of five new cases bringing the total to 461.
In Milton, there have been 78 recoveries and three deaths.
Across Halton, there have been 371 recoveries and 22 deaths.
Yesterday, there was a drop in the number of cases from 98 confirmed positive cases to 97. Halton Region provided the following reasons for the drop:
“Data extracted from iPHIS represent a snapshot at the time of extraction, and based on information gathered while doing case investigation, numbers may increase or decrease daily to reflect our most up to date information. For example, a case who had a Milton address listed on their positive lab result may be entered into iPHIS as a Halton case when they are first received by Public Health. Subsequent discussion between the case and their assigned investigator may reveal that the case actually used to live in Milton, but have subsequently moved elsewhere and have not updated their health card, which resulted in the lab listing their old Milton address on the lab result. Once the investigator has determined the case’s current correct address, the case record will be updated to reflect it, and the case may be transferred to another health unit if they no longer reside in Halton.”
In summary, a resident that tested positive was believed to be a Milton resident. Further investigation found that they were not, as they had moved and did not update their health card.
