The Milton District Hospital celebrated the grand opening of nine new pediatric ‘Smilezones’ throughout the hospital.
Inside each Smilezone, there are murals, electronics, and other kid-friendly activities.
Executive Director for the Milton District Hospital Foundation, Helen Vatistas, says they are happy to be selected.
According to Vatistas, creating a positive environment is a big deal.
Medical Director of the Emergency Department, Salman Khalid, says the smile zone plays an important role.
There will now be four Paediatric Observation Short Stay Rooms (POSS) in the Emergency Department, three Fracture Clinic Roomsa Maternal Newborn Family Lounge and an Emergency Children’s Waiting and Play Room.
Smilezone’s mission is to create, build and transform areas in hospitals, to improve the experience of children in the hospital.
